sound engineer,
motion graphics artist
Who is Alexandria Wood?
Born in The United States but raised in England, Alexandria is a true mélange of anglophone culture. After receiving her high school diploma from TASIS England, she again crossed the Atlantic to attend American University in Washington DC. At American, Alex graduated with a bachelor of arts in audio production - with a focus on communications - and a minor in studio art; and found her true passion - audio engineering.
Upon graduating, Alexandria made the decision to move to New York City and pursue a career as a sound engineer. Starting as an intern at Atlantic Sound Studios in Brooklyn, she soon began reaching outside the studio and quickly fell in love with running live sound. It was from here that she started working at various venues around the city, such as Baby's All Right, Arlene's Grocery, Brooklyn Bowl, City Winery, Market Hotel, Knitting Factory, and many more.
It has always been a dream of Alexandria's to travel with work, so touring was a natural progression that gelled with her natural being more than she ever could've imagined. Touring with artists such as Tank and the Bangas, Sondre Lerche, and Lewis Del Mar, Alexandria has had the great pleasure of working in the US Canada and Europe at both large scale festivals as well as <1000 capacity concert venues.
In 2019 with Brexit quickly approaching, Alexandria realized that her opportunity to easily move to Europe was coming to an end. So, knowing no one, she took a leap of faith to pursue her dream of speaking French (currently speaks around level B2) and living in Europe by moving to Brussels, where she has found her essence to be radiating at its ideal frequency ever since.
During the COVID-19 quarantine, with concert venues being indisposed, Alexandria taught herself to use After Effects and has been making motion graphic work as a freelancer ever since, working for clients such as The Belgian Pride, Eurakor and various private artists. She has found a new passion for creating logos, commercials and informative instructional videos.
To summarize, what is it that Alexandria offers? Not just technical skills, but also an understanding of deep listening, in terms of both specific technical frequencies as well as subtle emotional undertones. She looks at herself as a manifestor of safe spaces; a doula of sorts, here to understand what it is you need, to have the most successful, vulnerable experience. To fight for, create or provide the assurance you need, so you can focus on the most important part, preparing to be in the best condition possible to expose your art baby to the world.
